How do I know when my laptop’s power adapter is bad?
The laptop adapter is the notebook’s
main power source. If your laptop is not booting up at all and no
lights are turning on, then you may have a faulty power adapter. Also,
if you notice your battery is not being charged or is charging
sporadically, it could also be your adapter going bad. That could also
be a battery problem as well, so the best way to test it is to take out
the battery and see if the computer still boots up and runs normally.
How do I know which laptop adapter to get?
You are not required to get a brand name
adapter to charge your laptop.
However, there are a few specifications you have to consider. The main
important thing is the tip size and shape.

Another specification to consider is the
voltage of your laptop adapter. It should show the voltage settings on
the back of the adapter “brick”:
So as long as you can match the tip and the voltage, then the adapter
will work for your laptop.
